I Have No Idea What “So I’m a Spider, So What?” Is and I Love It

This show is a new Iskekai. An Iskekai is a show where the protagonist wakes up in a new world usually through means of reincarnation. They are typically changed completely and have to see the world in a entirely new way.

This specific Iskekai is titled, “So I’m a Spider, So What?” Due to me wanting to be surprised when the show comes out, I only looked for a description of the bare plot. It’s about a high school girl who wakes up in the body of a spider in a fantasy world, she then fights her way to the top to become number one of all spiders.

I’m very exited for this show for a lot of reasons but what I’m most looking forward to is how the main character being a spider is going to be utilized.

In most anime the protagonists is either human or humanoid, so they do things that are easily relatable to us. However seeing the heroic journey of someone waking up in a body completely different than their own is going to be incredibly interesting.

I’m extremely curious to see how fights scenes are going to be animated, given the limitations of the character being a spider. However this does lead to a few questions, the main character wakes up inside an egg and they hatch out into this new world. My question is, as the series goes on, is the character going to physically grow and change? Maybe physical changes can be something that can be unlocked with character growth.

Also, are they alone on this journey? The trailer showed the character hatching while surrounded by other eggs so… Are there siblings that accompany them on this journey? Or is there something that happens shortly after this character is reborn to make their journey a solo one?

All and all, I’m very excited about this new Anime. I’m looking forward to it, and I hope you are too. Please let me know what you think in the comments below! I hope you enjoyed my article!

So I’m a Spider, So What? is a Japanese light novel series written by Okina Baba and illustrated by Tsukasa Kiryu. The series has received a manga adaptation, and an anime television series adaptation will premiere in 2020.
