Simply Organic – The Better Adobo to Help You Survive #GoyaBoycott

Like almost every other Latin child, I grew up with Goya Foods adobo seasoning. 🇨🇴 It’s a staple in any Latino household and, for many cooking without Goya is unthinkable.

Well, it was unthinkable until the Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue shocked us all when he praised President Trump during a Rose Garden event saying, “We’re all truly blessed, at the same time, to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder.” WTF!!! You mean the builder, or should we say attempted builder, of a wall meant to keep out Latinos! Wow, just wow!

Funny, I can’t remember any time where there has ever not been adobo in my house. I use it on 95% of what I cook, veggies, eggs, spaghetti, and of course in my empanadas and arroz con pollo. Everything is better with a little adobo! 😋

However, I stopped using Goya’s adobo decades ago! Full of msg and artificial additives, that stuff can’t go in my body.

Some have tried to say that the boycott is an attack on free speech but it definitely is not. The same way you have the right to say whatever you want, is the same way we as consumers can choose to buy whatever we want, or not buy. Your free speech doesn’t exempt you from the consequences of your speech.

“‘Buycotting’ is not suppressing speech. In fact, it is the opposite,” Jaime Settle, a scholar of American political behavior at the College of William and Mary, told me. “Corporate leaders have a choice: If they choose to publicly disclose their political views, they should expect people to respond by expressing their own, even if the public channels that speech through consumer habit.”

I know many Latinos out there can’t imagine a kitchen without out Goya, no matter how they may feel about Unanue’s statements. Thankfully, there are alternatives. Adobo is simply a spice blend so can always make your own. However, if your not about trying to figure out getting the perfect recipe. I’m here for you.
