Oculus Quest 2 Product Review

I love my Oculus Quest 2 in January. I originally bought it to help me enjoy the VR films showing during the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW. Attending a VR film party during the quarantine was wonderful. It was the first time in months that I was able to actually attend a party with real people. Even though it was virtual, it felt real and was a lot of fun.

I also love using my Oculus to do Supernatural virtual workouts. It’s added a completely new element to my fitness routine. Again, that was a lifesaver during the quarantine. Plus, the Oculus app syncs to my Apple Fitness app so I can track the impact of my virtual workouts.

The controllers are really easy to use and I caught on very quickly to using the headset. One thing that helped me to learn how to play the games was that I was able to cast what my view onto my tv. This allowed my son to see what I was seeing inside the headset and walk me through anything I didn’t understand.

Another fun element to the Quest 2 is that you can interact with your Facebook friends while playing games (only if you want to that it). That being said, Oculus is owned by Facebook and you must have a Facebook account to use it.

The only downside to the headset is that it doesn’t really accommodate Black hair. If my hair is in an Afro it will leave it mushed and misshaped. If I’m wearing a wig or braids, it can become uncomfortable. Also, you have to be very careful not to get any hair product on the lens.

All in all, I’m really happy that I bought it. I would not have survived the quarantine without it and it has introduced me to a whole new world of entertainment.

HERE ARE MY FAVORITE OCULUS QUEST 2 GAMES:

1. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners

2. Supernatural

3. Echo Arena

4. Rec Room

1. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is a very impressive game that sets you right into the world of Robert Kirkman‘s creation. It has a very powerful emphasis on survival and exploration. Crafting new objects to survive in the apocalyptic version of New Orleans and a captivating storyline. Experiencing the game in virtual reality makes those decisions impacts feel much more grounded because instead of seeing it my third-person view the events unfolding in the characters within the game are before your eyes.

2. Supernatural

Supernatural is a very fun and very interactive exercise game. In the same vein as beat saber you are hitting 3-D objects to the rhythm of a beat however the objective of this game is to make your heart rate go up. It creates a very fun workout that will make you sweat.

3. Echo Arena

Echo Arena is very simple but a fun game with a lot of replay value. The games are fun and a good replacement for physical competitive games during the lockdown. Echo Arena is everyone’s favorite space disc throwing competitive virtual reality game. Knocking out players in scoring goals is very gratifying and feels very much like scoring goals in real life.

4. Rec Room

Rec Room is a very fun game where are users can create their own content this gives players a vast variety of different worlds to play in as well as many games that many users have created themselves. It’s an excellent social experience for those who are younger however older players can enjoy many of the game modes that are provided through the game.
