Black Women Deserve More Than Survival Stories
Black women deserve became part of my story long before it became a clean headline. I wanted more stories where Black women were not only praised for enduring harm.
Survival Is Not The Whole Story
Yes, Black women survive. We have survived more than this world should have asked of us. Yet survival is not the full measure of our humanity.
We deserve stories about laughter, softness, travel, rest, desire, creativity, money, leadership, and ordinary joy.
Joy Is Also Evidence
Joy tells the truth too. It shows that we are not only reacting to oppression. We are building lives, making art, raising children, choosing friends, and creating culture.
This is why I value diverse voices. Representation should make room for complexity, not just pain.
Writing The Full Picture
On DG Speaks, I want Black women to appear as whole people. Sometimes we are angry. Sometimes we are tired. Sometimes we are funny, brilliant, messy, romantic, curious, and free.
That fullness matters. It gives us back the room that narrow narratives tried to steal.
