Celebrating 80 Years of Batman at SDCC 2019
Batman is one of my favorite super hero of all time. I think it’s because he has the coolest gadgets. I’m a tech geek and I do so love me some gadgets. When I found out about the opportunity to work at the Batman Experience I was ecstatic to jump on board. Working this event gave me an opportunity to see all the amazing set pieces and participate in all the fun.
I remember like it was yesterday when rare pieces of iconic DC comic book art and large-scale film and television props, including several from Tim Burton’s “Batman” film came out. I can’t believe that it’s been 30 years. I remember my excitement of seeing Beetle Juice playing Batman. LOL
Having an opportunity to see props from that movie like the iconic Batmobile and Batsuit, worn by Michael Keaton , up close was a dream come true. At the experience there were also many rare pieces of DC comic book art.
“We’re honored to have a role in celebrating Batman’s induction into the Comic-Con Museum Character Hall of Fame, and we wanted to celebrate this iconic Super Hero in a way that is unique to what AT&T has the power to do,” said Valerie Vargas, SVP of Advertising and Creative Services, AT&T. “THE BATMAN EXPERIENCE will be an epic, fan-centric activation showcasing how creativity and innovative technology can unlock new opportunities for fans, allowing them to engage and interact with Batman in a whole new way.”
The Batcave was one of the coolest parts of the the experience because it had a gaming lounge that featured all the different generations of Batman video and arcade games. I’m not a huge gamer but I know a little bit and I had so much fun playing Injustice 2 (PS4 ) and LEGO Batman 3 (PS4) .
There cool featured elements of THE BATMAN EXPERIENCE POWERED BY AT&T were:
- The Dark Knight Dive, the centerpiece attraction of THE BATMAN EXPERIENCE and a one-of-a-kind VR skydiving experience into the Gotham City.
- WHAAM! KABOOM! POW! The Rogue Gallery Rumble, an interactive punching bag experience that uses projection mapping and lights to trigger classic and iconic animations and sounds throughout the space.
- A special 6-foot Batman Black & White Statue designed by acclaimed artist and writer Todd McFarlane, marking the 100th statue in the line.
