Top Ten Most Iconic Women of Marvel: Our Picks

The Marvel universe is a vast universe featuring characters of all kinds, especially female characters that were trailblazers for female representation in comic books. Therefore, on this top ten list I will be counting down my picks for the top ten most iconic women of Marvel.

10. Black Widow (Natasha Romanov)

One of the most recognizable and iconic female characters because of her debut in the marvel cinematic universe. Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanov, is a former KGB spy who later defected to shield. The character’s origins have changed depending on the era, but this assassin has always used her physical prowess to make up for her lack of superpowers. Combined with her use of a myriad of gadgets and intelligence gathering skills, she’s a valuable member of the Avengers

9. Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

An ex-military pilot, Carol Danvers, had her DNA mixed with Kree DNA giving her amazing energy-based abilities. One of the strongest Avengers, she’s more well-known now due to her debut in the marvel cinematic universe and role in the “Avengers Civil War II” comic book.

8. She-Hulk

She-Hulk is perhaps one of the most interesting Marvel characters. She’s the cousin of Bruce Banner and gained her powers via blood transfusion from him after an accident. While being a superhero and an Avenger, she’s also a lawyer.

7. Gamora

Forcefully adopted daughter of Thanos, Gamora is dubbed “The Most Dangerous Woman in the Galaxy.” She is powerful and lethal, trained by Thanos for most of her life and with the aid of many robotic augments.

6. Mantis 

She was introduced to us in the marvel cinematic universe as a ward to Ego. Mantis is an empathic alien with the ability to sense, feel and manipulate the emotions of others. Although mantis is not a combative character, she was vital in the fight against Thanos on Titan during Avenger’s Endgame. 

5. Susan Storm 

A brilliant scientist and member of the Fantastic 4. Susan or Sue Storm is well known for her invisibility and force field powers. She’s also one of the handfuls of Marvel characters that have been featured in a movie. 

4. Jean Grey 

An Iconic member of the X-men that had been a part of the team’s roster since the beginning. Her mighty psychic powers have made her one of the team’s strongest members and have made her a formidable enemy as well when the Phoenix Force has overtaken her. 

3. Mystique 

Mystique is one of the most recognizable members of the Brotherhood of Mutants. In recent movies, she takes on more of a protagonist role in the X-men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix movies. The character at her core is an excellent example of a female antagonist.

2. Storm

Another iconic X-men member but also an iconic Black character. Storm’s ability to manipulate the weather lives up to her name. She’s also another character featured prominently in the X-men films. 

1. Wanda Maximoff

Wanda Maximoff or “The Scarlet Witch” is perhaps one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men universe because of how she manipulates reality and bends it to her will. This character is featured in the marvel cinematic universe after she was introduced to us initially as an antagonist in “Age of Ultron” as one of Ultron’s allies. She’s also featured in her show “WandaVision,” streaming on Disney +.
