Tribeca Festival Announces Star-Studded TV Lineup for 2023

New York City is gearing up for the highly anticipated 2023 Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, where audiences will be treated to a star-studded lineup of TV premieres. The festival, which runs from June 7-18, will showcase a range of highly anticipated programs from networks and streamers like Disney+, Max, Apple TV+, Starz, AMC, A&E, BET+, and more.

Among the world premieres at this year’s festival are Max’s Full Circle, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Dennis Quaid, Claire Danes, Timothy Olyphant, Zazie Beetz, and Jharrel Jerome. The show explores an investigation into a botched kidnapping that uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present-day New York City. Prime Video’s The Horror Of Dolores Roach, a Sweeney-Todd-inspired tale with Justina Machado, and BET+’s Diarra From Detroit, a dark comedy executive produced by Kenya Barris that centers on a divorcing school teacher, written and starring Diarra Kilpatrick, are also highly anticipated.

Other noteworthy programs include Disney+’s Choir, based on the inspirational story behind America’s Got Talent finalists the Detroit Youth Choir, and A&E’s Exposing Parchman, an investigative documentary that explores the efforts to reform the Mississippi correctional system led by a team of attorneys on behalf of the inmates of Parchman Prison, featuring Jay-Z. Fan favorites also make a return, including AMC’s The Walking Dead: Dead City, and the highly anticipated season seven premiere of Starz’s Outlander.

The festival’s NOW program, which features independent episodic work, will continue to uncover compelling stories, with eight standout selections this year. The Long, Long Night, a comedy starring Mark Duplass and Barrett O’Brien, Hey, Joe, an absurdist cooking show with Philly-based pizza chef Joe Beddia, executive produced by Eric Wareheim, and Honeycomb, a dark comedy starring Baron Vaughn, are just a few of the highlights.

According to Tribeca Senior Programmer Liza Domnitz, “There’s genuinely something for everyone in our Tribeca Festival TV selection. From romance in the 18th Century to a hilarious mystery in modern-day Detroit; from a sports legend in the ring to hip-hop heroes in the Bronx; from zombies in post-apocalyptic Manhattan to cannibalism in Washington Heights. Similarly, a fantastic variety of projects commemorate the 10th anniversary of indie episodic at Tribeca, offering attendees the chance to see the next generation of provocative and unique stories.”

The 2023 Tribeca Festival promises to be a must-see event for TV lovers, offering a diverse range of programs that showcase groundbreaking storytelling from both established and emerging creators.
