Hello friend,
nn
My foundation has been working hard to get our economic development project, Junk to Jewels, off the ground and I’m asking my friends and everyone in my network to donate whatever they can. This project is aimed at solving two problems, providing an economic opportunity for women from the marginalized Raizal community in San Andres, Colombia (my home), and reducing the environmental degradation caused by the tremendous mounds of debris along the island’s shoreline. Through the Junk to Jewels project, women will learn to make and market jewelry and handbags made from the upcycled debris. We have also created a business incubator to give them all the support and supplemental training they need along the way.

We are down to the wire now. I’m heading to Colombia Tuesday to get things started. However, we are still in desperate need of supplies. If you donated $25, that would buy one woman a jewelry making kit. $100 would buy a sewing machine for the ladies to have in their business incubator. $10 would be enough for a sewing kit. $5 would be enough to cover transportation and lunch for one lady to attend a day of training. Your support here can make a real difference and you can follow along with the process on our Facebook page (facebook.com/parrafoundation). Please act now and give your support.
