Free Perfume, Tiny Moisturizers and Two London Beauty Pop-Ups
My friend Chidi and I found ourselves inside the kind of London afternoon I love: music, smoothies, perfume samples, beauty giveaways, and a crowd of women in a genuinely good mood.
We visited the Sephora Spitalfields opening, where Sephora partnered with PHLUR, and I also experienced a pink KAYALI activation for Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22.
Both events had their own look, but they shared the same joyful energy.
Sephora Arrived in Spitalfields With PHLUR
A mirrored sign announced “Sephora loves Spitalfields,” while oversized black balloons framed the storefront.
Nearby, a white display marked the collaboration as Sephora x PHLUR. Fragrance bottles sat among flowers, and a DJ kept the energy moving outside the store.
The Spitalfields opening turned a store launch into a full beauty experience with fragrance displays, music, samples, and a crowd ready to celebrate.
I love the way store openings turn shopping into a temporary cultural event.
People do not simply enter, browse, and leave. They gather, take photos, try products, and share the excitement of something new arriving in the neighborhood.
Entering KAYALI’s Pink Boujee Kitty World
The KAYALI activation created an entirely different visual mood.
Everything leaned pink, playful, and sweet. I held sample cards for Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk | 22 in front of a pink structure that looked built for photographs.
The fragrance matched the setting.
KAYALI describes it as a warm gourmand built around caramel milk, salted caramel, white chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, musk, and sandalwood. Even the name sounds like a dessert dressed for a night out.
I brought the samples with me, which suited my travel lifestyle far better than carrying another full bottle.
Smoothies, Music and Women Having Fun
Chidi and I also stopped for smoothies.
Mine was green, while hers looked pink and fruity. We took a photo together holding the drinks, smiling in the middle of a day that required no deeper explanation.
We were having fun.
A lot of women had gathered in the same spaces, and everyone seemed excited about the fragrances, samples, photographs, and giveaways.
That good mood became my favorite part.
Why I Look for Pop-Ups When I Travel
I try to visit pop-ups whenever I travel.
They give me small beauty products that fit easily into my nomadic lifestyle. Full-size bottles take up space, add weight, and create airport-security problems. Samples allow me to enjoy beauty without turning my backpack into a bathroom cabinet.
Pop-ups also show me how a city markets to the people living in it right now.
Museums preserve culture. Temporary brand experiences reveal another side of contemporary urban life: what people desire, photograph, share, and gather around.

Letting Joy Count as Part of the Itinerary
Not every travel experience needs to teach a profound historical lesson.
Sometimes the value lies in perfume cards, a good smoothie, music, and a friend beside you.
That belief connects with why I have been letting joy be useful rather than treating pleasure as frivolous.
G-Day and I left with samples, photos, and a good memory.
That felt like time well spent.
