Why I Believe in Taking Myself to Lunch
There is something powerful about taking myself to lunch. Not grabbing something quickly because I forgot to eat. Not settling for leftovers while standing in the kitchen. I mean choosing a place, sitting down, and letting myself enjoy the meal. Taking myself to lunch is a small act of self-respect.
A table for one is still a table
Women are often taught to wait for company before we take up space. I do not want to live that way. My own company is enough reason to sit, order, and enjoy.
This connects with solo travel confidence and women and rest. Public pleasure matters.
Learning my own appetite
Eating alone helps me notice what I actually want. Not what the group wants. Not what looks impressive. Not what someone else thinks is worth ordering. My own appetite gets a voice.
That may sound simple, but it can be liberating.
Making solo dining easier
A good book, journal, or small bag from my Amazon shop can make solo lunches feel easy. A food tour through GetYourGuide can also be a gentle way to dine socially while traveling alone.
The bigger lesson is that I do not need permission to enjoy my own life in public.
