I always notice bridges. They are practical, yes, but they are also symbolic. City bridges tell me how people cross, connect, trade, commute, and sometimes stay divided.

A bridge can connect neighborhoods, but it can also reveal inequality. Who crosses daily for work? Who crosses for leisure? Who gets a beautiful pedestrian path, and who gets a dangerous shoulder beside traffic?
