HANDSOME Drops ‘Dumb It Down’ in Collaboration with Chloe Dadd + EGOISM
Australian artist HANDSOME is back with a bang as she releases her latest single ‘Dumb It Down’ in collaboration with Chloe Dadd and Olive Rush from EGOISM. The track is a dance-floor ready pop anthem that blends gang vocals with a wicked heavy bass-line. HANDSOME, Chloe, and Olive exchange barbs on the track, which HANDSOME explains is about the breakdown in understanding between two people. The song reflects young love that lacks complex worry and is all about that lets-sort-this-out-quickly-and-go-to-the-party energy.
HANDSOME’s recent collaborations hint at a larger project to be announced soon. The artist spent the first few months of the year touring the UK as part of MAY-A’s live project and finished up early this month performing her HANDSOME live show on the Sydney World Pride stage. Her sophomore EP BLAME, released in 2022, expanded on her moody electro sound and arrived alongside a self-directed short film of the same name, offering visual accompaniment to her cinematic lyrics. The project was hailed by NME, Pilerats, Rolling Stone, Cool Accidents, and The Music, with rotation on FBi Radio, SYN Melbourne, and Edge Hobart, and the title track used in the trailer for Netflix’s highly anticipated Heartbreak High reboot.

‘Dumb It Down’ is a testament to HANDSOME’s creative vision, as she worked with Olive Rush to bring the track to life from the ground up. Chloe Dadd brings her fire to the verse and compliments HANDSOME’s vocals perfectly. The collaboration follows HANDSOME’s successful release of ‘Running Out Of Time’ with prodigy flowerkid and St. South in 2022, which received support from triple j and FBi and graced the cover of Indie Buzz on Youtube Music.
HANDSOME’s ‘Dumb It Down’ is a must-listen for anyone looking for a fun, upbeat pop anthem that will get them moving. With collaborations like this, it’s clear that HANDSOME is a force to be reckoned with in the Australian music scene.
