Wunderbar BBQ at SXSW and the Conversations That Happen Around Food
I have always believed that some of the best networking happens over a meal. Put good food on the table and conversations become more relaxed, more honest, and much easier to remember.
That was exactly the atmosphere at Wunderbar BBQ. Between the aroma of smoked barbecue and the steady flow of people, it felt less like a business event and more like a neighborhood gathering that happened to include entrepreneurs, creatives, and media.
Working in food systems has taught me that meals create common ground. Even people with completely different backgrounds usually have a food story worth sharing, and those stories often lead to something bigger.
Food breaks barriers
Sharing a table removes some of the formality that networking events can create. It encourages curiosity instead of sales pitches.
Austin knows how to gather people
SXSW is filled with large events, but smaller gatherings like this often become the ones I remember most.
I left with new conversations, a full stomach, and another reminder that food is one of the world’s best connectors.
