Why I Believe Local Food Is Global Work
local food became part of my story long before it became a clean headline. I never saw local food as small.
The Local Is Connected
A farmer at a market connects to weather, land rights, trade, gender, transportation, and public health. One tomato, one basket of greens, or one bag of grain can tell a global story.
That is why I keep writing about food systems through both policy and lived experience.
Women Feed The System
Women often plant, harvest, cook, sell, preserve, and stretch food. Yet they may still lack land rights, financing, equipment, or recognition.
A food system cannot be fair while depending on women it refuses to support.
Better Food Futures
Local food can protect culture and strengthen economies. However, it needs fair markets, infrastructure, safety, and respect for the people doing the work.
This is where sustainable development becomes practical. It is not theory. It is dinner.
