Airbnb Turnover Checklist: How to Prepare Your Property Between Every Guest
Every Airbnb host eventually discovers that checkout day is where great reviews are won or lost. After more than 14 years as an Airbnb Superhost and Airbnb Ambassador, I’ve learned that a successful turnover isn’t simply about cleaning. It’s about resetting your home so every guest feels like they’re the very first person to stay there.
A consistent Airbnb turnover checklist keeps your property organized, protects your investment, and creates the kind of guest experience that leads to repeat bookings and five-star reviews.

Walk Through the Property First
Before grabbing cleaning supplies, take a slow walk through your Airbnb.
Look for forgotten belongings, damaged items, stains, maintenance issues, and anything that needs immediate attention. It’s much easier to spot problems before you begin cleaning.
Strip and Wash All Linens
Remove every sheet, pillowcase, towel, washcloth, bath mat, and kitchen towel after each stay.
Fresh linens are one of the simplest ways to reassure guests that your home has been thoroughly prepared for their arrival.

Deep Clean the Kitchen
Wipe countertops, clean appliances, sanitize the sink, empty the refrigerator, wash dishes, inspect cookware, and restock coffee and tea supplies.
Guests expect a kitchen that’s ready to use immediately.
My Airbnb Kitchen Checklist makes this process much easier.
Refresh Every Bathroom
Bathrooms deserve extra attention between reservations.
Scrub showers, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors. Replace toiletries, refill soap dispensers, fold fresh towels, and restock toilet paper and tissues.
A spotless bathroom immediately creates confidence.
Dust and Vacuum Every Room
Dust settles quickly, even after short stays.
Vacuum carpets and rugs, sweep hard floors, dust furniture, wipe windowsills, and check under beds and sofas for forgotten items or debris.
Restock Guest Supplies
Walk through each room as though you’re the arriving guest.
Replace coffee, tea, bottled water, paper towels, trash bags, tissues, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and any welcome basket items you’ve provided.
Use my Airbnb Supplies Checklist to make sure nothing gets overlooked.
Inspect Safety Equipment
Test smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, smart locks, lighting, flashlights, and Wi-Fi before every arrival.
Small maintenance issues are much easier to resolve before your next guest checks in.

Stage Your Home for Arrival
Once cleaning is complete, spend a few minutes preparing your Airbnb for photos again.
Fluff pillows, straighten chairs, fold blankets neatly, open curtains if appropriate, and arrange your welcome basket or coffee station.
Presentation matters.
Complete One Final Walkthrough
Before locking the door, pretend you’ve just arrived as a guest.
Turn on lights, check the temperature, verify the Wi-Fi, flush toilets, test the coffee maker, and make sure everything feels clean, welcoming, and ready.
Those last five minutes often catch the little things that make the biggest difference.
Create a Repeatable System
The most successful Airbnb hosts don’t rely on memory.
They follow the same turnover checklist every single time. That consistency creates dependable guest experiences regardless of how busy hosting becomes.
Many of these habits have evolved over the years and are reflected in Airbnb Hosting Lessons: What 14 Years Taught Me.
Preparation Builds Confidence
A great turnover routine gives both you and your guests peace of mind. You know your property is ready, and your guests immediately feel welcomed the moment they walk through the door.
