Culture Is Not a Souvenir
I do not want to collect people’s traditions like souvenirs. Culture is not decoration. It is not a costume for travelers to put on and take off. Real culture travel asks more of me.
Respect requires context
It asks me to learn history, listen well, and remember that people live inside the places I visit long after I leave.
That truth sits at the center of respectful cultural travel writing and slow travel lessons. Curiosity should deepen respect.
Choose better travel experiences
Thoughtful guided experiences through GetYourGuide can help, but I still have to bring humility to the day.
The bigger lesson is simple. Travel should make me a better guest, not just a busier visitor.
