The Table Changes When Women Speak Freely
The table changes when women speak freely. The air shifts. The laughter gets fuller. The truth comes closer. The performance drops a little. Women speak freely when the room finally gives them permission, or when they decide to take it.
Truth sounds different without apology
Women often carry stories that have been edited for comfort. We soften, shorten, translate, and protect other people from what we know. But when women speak without shrinking, the whole conversation becomes more honest.
This sits with Black women storytellers and women and rest. Voice and rest are connected because silence can be exhausting.
The table as a room of power
A dining table can become a strategy room, a healing room, a classroom, or a comedy stage. Women have always used informal spaces to think, plan, survive, and tell the truth.
That kind of leadership deserves recognition, even when it does not come with a title.
Making space for voice
Digital platforms, good books, microphones, journals, and tools from my Amazon shop can support women’s storytelling, but the deeper work is cultural.
The bigger lesson is that when women speak freely, everyone at the table has a chance to become more honest.
