Ecuador: Gender Equality, Food Systems, and Organizational Development

My Work in Ecuador
My consulting work in Ecuador focused on strengthening farmer organizations through strategic planning while integrating gender equality into organizational decision-making. Rather than treating gender as a separate topic, the work emphasized how stronger participation from women contributes to healthier organizations and more resilient communities.
Throughout the engagement, I worked with agricultural associations to strengthen planning processes, encourage collaborative leadership, and support practical approaches that organizations could continue using after the consulting assignment ended.
Ecuador reinforced my belief that sustainable development depends on both strong organizational systems and inclusive leadership. When organizations intentionally create opportunities for everyone to contribute, they are better positioned for long-term success.

Why Ecuador Matters to My Work
Ecuador represents the intersection of two lifelong passions: food systems and gender equity. My work there demonstrated that organizations become stronger when they intentionally invest in both effective planning and inclusive leadership.
Those experiences continue to influence my consulting today, particularly when working with organizations seeking sustainable growth while strengthening opportunities for women and underrepresented voices.
Food, Culture, and Community
Every consulting assignment also becomes an opportunity to learn from local culture. Ecuador offered rich experiences through its communities, agricultural traditions, landscapes, and cuisine. Those experiences continue to shape how I think about sustainable food systems and community development.
As this country hub continues to grow, I’ll be adding photographs, consulting stories, travel reflections, and articles that further explore my experiences throughout Ecuador.
