Zambia: Agriculture, Financial Management, and Farmer Organizations
Zambia is part of my international consulting story through work connected to agriculture, farmer organizations, financial management, food systems, and practical business strategy. My work there focused on helping agricultural organizations better understand their numbers, strengthen operations, and make clearer decisions for long-term growth.

My Work in Zambia
My work connected to Zambia focused on helping a farmer organization strengthen business and financial management systems. The work included support around production costs, budgeting, cash flow, pricing, debt reduction, and separating business and personal finances.
This kind of consulting is especially important for farmer organizations because strong production alone is not enough. Organizations also need clear records, reliable financial systems, realistic pricing, and the ability to make decisions based on data instead of assumptions.
In Zambia, the heart of the work was helping agricultural leaders understand the financial health of the organization so they could plan more confidently and operate with greater clarity.

Consulting Highlights
One of the strongest lessons from my Zambia work is that financial clarity can completely change how an organization sees itself. When leaders understand their cash flow, costs, debts, pricing, and financial position, they can make smarter decisions about production, growth, and risk.
My role included helping simplify financial information so it could be used by the organization in practical ways. That included templates, budgeting tools, and strategies for reviewing the business more regularly.
This work also reinforced one of my core beliefs: international development consulting should leave people with tools they can continue using after the assignment ends.
Why Zambia Matters to My Work
Zambia represents the financial management and organizational strengthening side of my consulting practice. It reminds me that food systems work is not only about what farmers grow. It is also about whether the organizations supporting them have the systems needed to survive, grow, and make good decisions.
That kind of practical support matters because many agricultural organizations are doing important work without the financial infrastructure they need. When those systems improve, organizations can better serve farmers, protect income, plan for the future, and build stronger rural economies.
Food, Culture, and Community
As this Zambia country hub grows, it will include more reflections on food, culture, travel, community, and the human side of development work. For DG Speaks, country pages are never just lists of assignments. They are living hubs that connect consulting, culture, food systems, and storytelling.
Zambiaโs place in my work reflects a larger commitment to practical, people-centered consulting that supports local leadership and sustainable economic development.
