Nigeria: Food Systems, Rural Enterprise, and Agricultural Marketing
Nigeria represents an important chapter in my international consulting experience, where I worked with agricultural organizations to strengthen rural enterprise, improve honey marketing strategies, and support sustainable livelihoods. The work combined food systems, communications, business strategy, and community development to help local organizations create stronger market opportunities.

My Work in Nigeria
My work in Nigeria focused on strengthening agricultural value chains through better marketing, communication, and business planning. Working alongside local organizations, I supported efforts to improve honey marketing strategies and develop practical tools that rural communities could use to increase visibility and expand market opportunities.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the assignment was helping translate technical concepts into practical resources that producers could actually use. Effective development is not simply about producing reports. It is about creating systems and tools that continue supporting communities after the consultant has gone home.
Nigeria also reinforced how closely agriculture, entrepreneurship, and communication are connected. Even the highest-quality agricultural products require effective marketing if they are going to generate stronger incomes for producers.

Why Nigeria Matters to My Work
Nigeria strengthened my understanding of the importance of value chains in agricultural development. Producing quality products is only one part of the equation. Organizations also need marketing, communications, branding, and customer relationships to translate production into sustainable income.
Those lessons continue to influence my consulting today, particularly when working with agribusinesses, cooperatives, and food system organizations seeking to strengthen both operations and visibility.
Food, Culture, and Community
International consulting is always about more than the technical assignment. Every country provides opportunities to learn through conversations, traditions, food, and everyday life. Those experiences create a deeper understanding of the communities I serve and strengthen the work itself.
As this Nigeria hub continues to grow, I’ll be adding photographs, consulting stories, cultural reflections, and articles connected to my experiences throughout the country.
