Quayside Kolsch Beer Review: A DG Speaks Sip
I remember this sip because it caught me in the middle of a real-life pause. On May 2, 2019, Quayside Kolsch by Fair Winds Brewing Company became part of my running beer diary, not just as a drink, but as a tiny marker of where I was and what I was feeling.

Quayside Kolsch is a Kölsch from Fair Winds Brewing Company. My note from that check-in says, “Very refreshing! It’s mildly hoppy, light but not watery, perfect balance for a hot day. I’m adding to my favorites list for sure.”. That one line says a lot because I tend to notice balance first. I like beer that gives me flavor without turning every sip into a fight.
I gave it 5 out of 5, which feels right for that moment and that pour. When I enjoy a beer, I usually notice how it moves between sweet, bitter, crisp, creamy, fruity, malty, or hoppy. This one gave me another small clue about what my palate loves and what it rejects.
