The Stories I Want to Carry Into the New Year
As the year closes, I am thinking less about resolutions and more about stories. Which ones do I want to keep telling? Which ones do I need to release? Which ones have I been afraid to write? Stories for the new year matter because they shape how I move forward.
What deserves more room
I want to make room for stories about food, travel, culture, women, rest, joy, and truth. I want to write about beauty without ignoring power. I want to celebrate without becoming shallow.
This sits with digital storytelling and Black women storytellers. The stories we center shape the culture we build.
Leaving room for complexity
Life does not arrive in neat categories. A travel story can also be a food systems story. A meal can be a memory story. A woman’s rest can be a leadership story.
I want my writing to hold those intersections because that is where the truth usually lives.
Entering the year with care
Tools like Calm, SafetyWing, and GetYourGuide can support a more intentional life, but the deeper work is choosing what gets my attention.
The bigger lesson is that the new year does not need a performance. It needs a clearer relationship with truth.
