I Have No Idea What “So I’m a Spider, So What?” Is and I Love It
Anime fans know there is never a shortage of new isekai series. However, every once in a while, one comes along that feels completely different. That is exactly how I felt when I first heard about So I’m a Spider, So What?.
Even after watching the trailer, I honestly still have no idea what this show fully is, and somehow that makes me even more excited about it.
What Is So I’m a Spider, So What?
For people unfamiliar with the genre, an isekai anime usually follows a character who wakes up or reincarnates into another world. In many cases, the protagonist gains powers or has to adapt to an entirely different life.
However, So I’m a Spider, So What? takes that idea in a much stranger direction.
The story follows a high school girl who suddenly wakes up reincarnated as a spider inside a fantasy world. Instead of becoming some overpowered hero immediately, she has to struggle to survive and slowly fight her way to the top.
Honestly, that concept alone already makes the series stand out.
Why the Spider Concept Feels So Interesting
Most anime protagonists are human or at least humanoid. Because of that, viewers naturally connect to them through familiar emotions, expressions, and movement.
This series flips that idea completely upside down.
Watching someone adapt to life inside the body of a spider creates endless possibilities for storytelling. The main character is forced to understand the world from a completely different perspective. That alone makes the journey feel fresh compared to other isekai anime.
I am especially curious about how the show will handle movement and combat scenes. Since the protagonist is literally a spider, the action sequences could become incredibly creative.
At the same time, I wonder if the character’s appearance will evolve over time.
Will the Main Character Change and Grow?
One thing that immediately caught my attention in the trailer was the fact that the main character hatches from an egg.
That raises a lot of questions.
Will the spider physically grow stronger or change forms as the story continues? Maybe new abilities or evolutions unlock alongside character development. If that happens, it could make the progression system really exciting to watch.
I also wonder whether the character stays alone throughout the story.
The trailer briefly showed multiple eggs nearby during the hatching scene. Because of that, I started wondering if there are siblings or other creatures connected to the protagonist’s journey.
Maybe they become allies. Maybe they become enemies. Or maybe something happens early on that forces the main character into complete isolation.
Right now, there are more questions than answers, and honestly, that is part of what makes this anime feel so exciting.
Why So I’m a Spider, So What? Stands Out
A lot of modern isekai anime can start feeling repetitive after a while. Many of them follow similar formulas with overpowered heroes and fantasy game mechanics.
However, So I’m a Spider, So What? already feels different because of how unusual the premise is.
The idea of watching a character survive, adapt, and evolve as a spider sounds weird, creative, and surprisingly ambitious all at the same time.
Sometimes the strangest concepts end up becoming the most entertaining.
This is Going to Be Interesting
Overall, I am really excited to see where this anime goes. Between the unusual protagonist, the fantasy setting, and all the unanswered questions, this feels like a series with a lot of potential.
I am definitely looking forward to watching So I’m a Spider, So What? when it releases, and I am curious to see if it can live up to the hype.
What do you think about the concept? Does this sound like an anime you would watch?
